Puh! Today we braved the foreign police to register ourselves. Of course, before that, we have gone there to ask what we need and checked online for all information we can get. With all what one can find out, one really gets crazy preparing the papers one MIGHT need and one gets afraid of what the officer still might need. Afterall, one would like to finish the process in one go, right?
So we compiled the said papers needed: application form, photos, stamps, lease agreement or a notarized affidavit by house owner, release papers from the Foreign Office, insurance card, copies of whatever we would like to bring. So we are ready....
The waiting: The computerized number distribution was not working and probably never is. There was a lady who was sitting there already for 4 hours. That made us definitely positive (ahem) how long we would be waiting, plus before us were a bunch people leaving us fourth in line. I believe only one counter was open but later on, there were four counters open. The lady officer was at the beginning quite tough with her expression but she softened a bit after a while.
Now the process:
There are two choices: Register only or Register with Slovak ID. Sorry say that again?
Yes it is possible to register without the Slovak ID!! So simple! She wanted the filled application form, a Slovak telephone number, insurance card, passport and the funniest is: 200€ cash as show money. Thank God we had it as we have read it nowhere about this. Instead of the ID card, one gets only a paper giving as a personal number in Slovakia! This might have been merely 5 minutes if we were not three.
Register with Slovak ID: Here comes the complication. With the above mentioned, she would need the lease agreement or a notarized affidavit of a property owner if not renting and the original cadastral of the property. One original document per person.
So we were happy as the registration was successful! Wait wait, I come from the Philippines, I was not registered as I needed our marriage certificate with Apostille and transated to Slovak. But this is doable and we need not fear going there anymore.
